The National Democratic Congress National Care Initiative (NDC NCI) entered its second phase of community outreach to help those most in need. As families continue to grapple with our current economic realities, there’s a great need to support those who are most vulnerable in our midst.

The National Democratic Congress joins the chorus of voices, both in the United States and around the world, calling for systemic reforms that will improve race relations in that country, in the aftermath of the unlawful killing of George Floyd at the hands of law enforcement officers.

The stand-off between the Bus Owners Association and Government should not be allowed to escalate further. Further delay in the resumption of public transportation will result in more hardship for people who depend on public transportation as their main way of going about their daily lives. The Government should consider this and show compassion, especially during this already stressful time.

As the world grapples with the Covid-19 Pandemic, small Islands Developing States like Grenada, largely depend on tourism and to a lesser extent remittances from the diaspora. Many of our friends and neighbours are now experiencing challenges with meeting their daily needs.

In light of the news of our first positive case of Covid-19 which we knew was inevitable, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) notes with deep concern. Government’s lack of serious leadership in handling the pandemic as it hits home here in Grenada.
