The National Democratic Congress joins the chorus of voices, both in the United States and around the world, calling for systemic reforms that will improve race relations in that country, in the aftermath of the unlawful killing of George Floyd at the hands of law enforcement officers.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with the many peaceful protesters in America and around the world who have come out demanding racial justice and systemic change.

The National Democratic Congress believes in a world where all human beings are unequivocally equal; regardless of race, colour or creed. We also believe in a world where the standard-bearers of human rights, must steadfastly honour their legal and moral obligations to ensure that all their citizens enjoy the same human rights that they champion elsewhere around the world.

The NDC also calls on our Government to encourage our sister nations of the Caribbean Community to condemn the systemic racial inequalities of the type to which George Floyd and so many others before him fell victim.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Floyd and all the families who have lost loved ones to police brutality and racial discrimination.
